Another five straight
OK, OK, I've gotten quite a few friendly notes from from fans, friends, and even my wife reminding me that I haven't updated the web site in a few days. I guess it's time to get back to work. I'm even farther behind in keeping up with my email. I'll try to do better, I promise! We finished five shows in a row with an overnight ride to New Orleans Monday. We arrived around 10:30am and I thought I'd take advantage of our half-day off to update the web site but instead gave in to peer pressure and walked the streets of the city. In the process of spending too much time trying to find a restaurant that everyone agreed on I got too much sun and too little food and ended up with a serious migraine headache. So much for my plans. I spent the rest of my time in New Orleans recovering in a dark, cold hotel room.
I was still a little sick during the show last night in New Orleans but made it through OK. The audience was rowdy and wild - which is what we expected. New Orleans and New York are the only cities to my knowledge in which totally out of control drunks had to be removed from the audience. In New York last year it was a loud heckler in the upper stands, last night in New Orleans it was a woman who apparently thought she was at Mardi Gras! Need I say more? Anyway, it made for an interesting show.
I had guests at the show so I didn't get to go out front and meet fans after the show. David said tells me it was equally rowdy out there, with people even pulling at his clothing. No more of that - OK?
I get a lot of email from people wanting to know where Charlie, David and I go after each show. The simple answer is we don't know until we get there. Every arena is different so we just try and look for a way to make a quick exit and find people heading for the door. If there is a main concourse, we choose that level and if possible I try to steer us to the side of the stage on which I perform, which is the right side from the audience perspective. Just try and find us, it's half the fun!
We drove overnight to Pensacola Florida and awoke to a beautiful sunny and warm day. David, Kristen and I gathered at nine this morning for "a bit of brehky" as David calls it, I then rushed upstairs to teach my daughters on-line "Flash" class. After that I spent a little time teaching David how 'layering' works in Photoshop Elements before heading outside for a good swim.
After I exercised David and I hung around the pool laughing and talking for about an hour. It was pleasant to not be teaching someone how to do something for a few minutes - and yes I was careful to wear a hat and not get too much sun this time.
Tonight's show is the second of another five-in-a-row set. I'm feeling great again so lets see if my new found energy translates into keeping this journal updated.
