Snowing in Fort Wayne

It started snowing shortly after midnight here in Fort Wayne and it looks like about 3 inches or so has accumulated. The temperature is hovering around 30 degrees. We have a show here tonight and then a 4 hour drive to Champagne, Il for our next performance.

We had a great show in Kansas City and an uneventful 12 hour overnight bus ride to Fort Wayne. Just about all the musicians went straight to the hotel restaurant for breakfast when we arrived. We're a noisy bunch and fortunately we were the only ones there. I hadn't had any good southern food for a few days so I ordered a plate full of biscuits and gravy. Armen and Pedro had never tasted this delicacy so Armen ordered some and they split a plate and raved about how great it tasted. I didn't have the heart to tell them that It was about the worst excuse for biscuits and gravy I had ever sunk a greasy fork into. Who knows, I may have started a new Russian food craze.

On my day off here in Fort Wayne I visited the Botanical Garden, taught my daughter's computer class online and then spent most of the rest of the day helping David install some new software on his Powerbook. If you've never checked out David Hudson's art work be sure and stop by his newly redesigned web site at http://www.davidhudson.com.au. He bought a Wacom drawing tablet to allow him to create art on his computer. The pointillist painting this is found in his and other Aboriginal art lends itself to computer drawing. I'll see if I can't get him to draw something and let me post it here.

Late in the day I went to eat some outstanding Indian food with Hussain, Pedro, Walter, David and Ramone. After dinner I helped Hussain get all his operating system software up to date and he gave me a lesson in jazz improvisation. Totally exhausted, I had to quit around 10:30pm and get some rest.

I joined Zack at a local laundromat early this morning and watched it snow.

Several of you from the Fort Wayne area have emailed and asked if we can meet and say hello after the show. I have been unable to get my email to send from this hotel room so I hope you see this journal entry before tonight's performance. David, Charlie and I will head to the arena lobby as soon as the show is over. We only have about 15 minutes before we have to get changed and hop back on the busses, so hurry out and say hello. See you there!
