Me and Alfie on YouTube

PBS stations across the country are now airing "Yanni Live: The Concert Event" in which I performed during the last tour. The show is being used as a fund raiser for PBS and to drum up excitement for the CD release date August 15th and the DVD release of September 19.

I've done on air 'pitching' as its called many times at our local station, WTCI, so it seemed only natural to be there for Wednesday night showing. My friend and band mate Alfreda Gerald came along to help out too. About an hour before leaving my friend Philip Luckey suggested I take my hammer dulcimer so Alfreda and I could perform something in the studio. This was a great idea but we don't actually play any songs during the show that would work as a solo piece. We put our heads together and figured out a simple arrangement of the piano and orchestra accompanied song "The Promise."

Thanks to whomever it was that recorded the broadcast and stuck it up on YouTube!

Comments:
Nice truncated version Dan. I'd love to see you two work on that combination of HD and voice more ... it's exquisite!

Hmmmm, the gears are turning again. Great idea.

Oh I know you already know my opinion! LOL! But hey, when you see something like that, you just gotta gush! I really do like that version! Very pretty! I would like to see more of that also!

Excellent! You two were just wonderful! Thanks for posting! Forever fans of you both...Diane

Well you have to know that I'm going to gush! I really enjoyed The Promise!!! So very pretty and simple! I would love to see more of that too! You two did great!

Dan,

I enjoyed the video of you and Alfie very much. She has a wonderful voice and your dulcimer accompanying her was beautiful. Neither of you seemed to take away from the other, but instead, complemented each other. It made me long for you two to do more songs. The only bad thing I have to say is that the performance was too short.

Judy,

We felt we'd better keep it short since the pledge breaks are timed. Thanks for the compliments. Next time Alfie is in town we'll try a few dulcimer/vocal experiments.
