web site and mail issues
I've had sporadic issues with my site for the past couple of days. It is affecting my email traffic as well. Please resend any messages you've had bounce back.I received the following message from my server host a few minutes ago:
Dear Valued Clients,
Due to the numerous outages recently on our host2.serversanddomains.com server, we will be replacing this server with a new Dell PowerEdge 2650, Dual Xeon processor server, tonight during the maintenance window of 12AM to 6AM EST. It should not be down for more than 10-15 minutes while the NOC completes the change. This should prevent any further interruptions of service. I apologize for the inconvenience these issues have caused.
Thank you for your patience.

Back from Evart
Angie and I returned safely yesterday afternoon from a huge dulcimer festival in Evart, Michigan. We also had a stop in Knox, Indiana for a Sunday afternoon library concert. I've got many stories and observations to write down but this is just a quick note to let everyone know we made it back safely after 1800 miles and 28 hours of driving time! We're still packing instruments away and tending to immediate business. I'll be posting pictures on this website tonight or tomorrow, but for now you're welcome to check out my mac.com website where I did a quick posting for the members of our band Hammeron!. The URL IS:
http://homepage.mac.com/danlandrum/PhotoAlbum6.html
These pictures were taken by Angie and me as well as Glenn Jerrel and Mark Wade. There will be more to come . . ..
Also, my web site and dan@danlandrum.com email account has been up and down for the past 18 hours or so due to a server error. It seems to have been corrected now so if you tried to email me and got an error you should try again.

Week in review . . .
It’s been a few days since I’ve updated this journal so I’ll just pick up where I left off.One week ago today I picked up the first thousand copies of my new CD, For the Beauty, in Nashville. My printer/duplicator is MediaWorks and they had moved into a larger facility since the last time I picked up CDs. I assumed their growth was because the CD duplication business must be doing well but the owner explained to me the opposite is true. He said in order to stay afloat they had to add printing presses and move in the direction of doing more custom print jobs as CD sales continue to fall due to piracy.
I’m reminded once again how thankful I am to those of you who purchase my music online and at concerts, and how fortunate I am to earn my living as an independent musician.
After picking up the CD order I headed to Guitar Center where I demoed a new type of sound system from the BOSE corporation which they call their Personal Amplification System. Read about it by using the link below:

They allow you to try it out before purchasing so I’m in the process of doing that now. It is so much easier to haul around than my speakers with all their associated gear. Yes, it’s pricey but he sound quality is amazing the bulk of the system actually fits behind the seat in my truck as opposed to filling the entire bed.
My first gig with the new rig was the very next morning at a local children’s home summer camp. You can see a few pictures on my Photographs Page.
I spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning preparing for a Saturday afternoon wedding for which I did all the music. I had to learn an Edgar Meyer/Bela Fleck piece called Sliding Down, Clarke’s Trumpet Voluntary, and the Bach-Gounod Ave Maria to be performed with a singer. I found the last one to be impossible to do on my D600 (diatonic) and I glad I have a linear chromatic instrument. It was still a lot of work but I’m glad to have added this piece to my repertoire.
There were a lot of thunderstorms in the area Sunday so I played in the great hall of the Imax Theatre as opposed to outside of the Tennessee Aquarium. Air conditioned and dry, I had a great time. The Bose system sounded exceptionally well there.
I spent the day Monday kayaking the Ocoee. Good times.
Today, Tuesday, I was back in the studio working my Christmas CD project. Alfreda Gerald will be here to record a few more tracks in August. We hope to have this completed by the time we hit the road with Yanni this fall. Alfreda and I have also reserved the Bessie Smith Hall in Chattanooga for Wednesday December 22, for a Christmas Concert. Make plans to attend!
