Sheet Music
Next week's Chattanooga Dulcimer Festival is a technique oriented affair, but it doesn't mean there won't be ANY sheet music. Click the title of this journal entry for a link to instructor provided sheet music.Wednesday, June 14, 2006
Chattanooga Dulcimer Festival Next Week
All of you registered for the Chattanooga Dulcimer Festival should have received an email from me (forwarded by Angie) yesterday regarding David Schnaufer being hospitalized due to complications from his battle with diabetes. We all need to keep David in our thoughts and prayers as he works toward recovery. I hate to lose him for the festival, but I hate much more the pain he's enduring.Winfield Natioinal Mountain Dulcimer Champion Lee Rowe is replacing David in the instructor/performer roster. The Chattanooga Dulcimer Festival web site has been appropriately updated.

I received this email from Lee today describing his approach to teaching:
"There are two kinds of musicians, those who know tunes and those who know their instrument. The ones who know tunes can play any melody they learn, and those who know their instrument can play anything at all. My goal as a teacher is to introduce the player to their instrument and, hopefully, to unleash the creative artist within. We'll begin with scales, modes and chords we'll move on to picking techniques with an eye toward expressing emotion with the dulcimer, then finally we'll begin to combine all of these elements to create music and have fun doing it." - Lee Rowe
See you all next week!
